Admission procedure

STUDENTS WHO NEED A VISA

  1. BACHELOR AND MASTER COURSES, PRE-ENROLLMENT TO TAKE ADMISSION EXAM

The procedure for specific cases is available on the official website http://www.studiare-in-italia.it/studentistranieri to which we refer for consultation. The general procedure is as follows:

  • Make a copy of the study documentation translated into Italian by foreign official bodies or issued by the Italian ENIC-NARIC center (CIMEA) or the “Dichiarazione di valore in loco” by the Embassy/ Consular Representation. For I level academic courses (BA), the study documentation to be presented will consist of the qualification awarded that gives access to university studies in one's country with a minimum of 12 years of total schooling and, where required, the passing of the academic suitability test that gives access to the University of the country of origin. For II level academic courses (2-year-long MA courses), the study documentation to be presented will consist of the first level qualification, which gives access in one's own country to the following academic level courses, and a certificate issued by the competent foreign institution certifying the exams passed (transcript), as well as, for each discipline, the programme of each subject; the study programme can be attested by the Diploma Supplement, where adopted.
  • Access the UNIVERSITALY portal, and register using the link at the top on the right-hand side of the home page, "Why and how to register" (the tax code field is not mandatory but if it is blocking, use an online tax code calculator to be able to continue with the procedure).Enter your account from the same menu at the top of the page using the "Log in" link. Fill in the “Pre-enrollment application”. The pre-enrollment application is required in order to take the admission exam at the Conservatory; note that each institution has its own pre-enrollment deadline date. Consult the Conservatory website.
  • Fill in the admission application to the Conservatory through the REGISTRO ELETTRONICO portal following the instructions found in pdf file at the bottom of this page, within the deadline;
  • Wait for the Conservatory to validate the pre-registration within the UNIVERSITALY portal. In order to do that, the Conservatory will carry out its own prior evaluation of the each applications on the basis of the study documentation translated into Italian. At this stage, the Conservatory will also have the right to produce and attach to the pre-enrollment application a Letter of eligibility for enrollment, useful for diplomatic-consular missions in the process of completing the visa issuing procedure.
  • Contact the Italian diplomatic consular mission in your country to apply for a visa.

If a student attends the last year of secondary school and is about to take the final exam and / or special academic qualification exams, where provided, the application is accepted by the diplomatic-consular mission with conditional admission.

Students pre-enrolling for taking the admission exam must be aware that:

               1. the prior acceptance of a candidate by the Conservatory does not confer any right to obtain the

visa, considering that this fulfillment is the exclusive competence of the diplomatic-consular mission;

2. obtaining a visa for study purposes issued by the competent diplomatic-consular mission

 does not confer any right to complete enrollment in a course of study, considering that such   fulfillment is an exclusive competence of the Conservatory;

3. the prior acceptance of a candidate by the Conservatory does not confer any right to further   training of enrolment, also in cases of:

a. obtaining the relevant visa;

b. physical presence in Italy;

c. eligibility and/or effective disbursement of scholarships/contributions of any kind;

d. conditional acceptance of the candidate in order to be able to start teaching activities

ISSUE OF THE VISA

a) To students regularly pre-enrolled and for whom the application by the receiving Conservatory has been validated within the UNIVERSITALY portal, the diplomatic-consular institution will issue, after completing their checks, a type "D" visa for STUDY "Enrollment University".

b) Students regularly pre-enrolled and for whom confirmation has been received from the Conservatory but with conditional admission (because they don’t have yet the relevant local qualification or because they are waiting to participate in the admission or language exam), the diplomatic-consular institution will, in any case, issue a "D" type visa for STUDY "University enrollment". In this way students are allowed to take the admission exams at the Conservatory and to proceed, in case of passing the selection tests , to the registration without going back to their home country.

c) If the admission tests or language exams take place before the final school diploma is obtained or in times that do not allow to complete the regular pre-enrollment, students must apply for a short-term entry visa (Uniform Schengen Visa for stays less than 90 days) or of a duration commensurate with the actual needs of the student, having ascertained the existence of the conditions and requirements for this type of visa.

The visa is granted only under certain conditions and demonstrating to: a) have economic means of subsistence; b) have the necessary sum for any repatriation; c) have accommodation; d) have an insurance policy.

The candidate cannot obtain the renewal of the residence permit for continuing his studies to attend a further single course other than the one that made his entry into Italy possible; the renewability of the residence permit for study reasons is allowed for the continuation of studies in the event of enrollment in a degree course related or consequent to the single course concluded. This relevance is certified by the Conservatory.

We remind you that in the admission exam phase, the specific skills in the main instrument / discipline and the knowledge of theory, history of music and harmony will be assessed for all candidates, foreigners and non-foreigners.

STUDENTS WHO DO NOT NEED A VISA

Candidates submit the enrollment application directly to the institution via the REGISTRO ELETTRONICO platform according to the methods, terms and documentation provided and access the evaluation on equal terms for holders of Italian qualifications. Academic qualifications issued by foreign authorities must be accompanied by translations, or certificates from the Italian ENIC-NARIC center (CIMEA), or "Dichiarazione di valore in loco" issued by the competent diplomatic institution or other proof useful in order to verify the elements of the foreign qualification.

We remind you that in the admission exam phase, the specific skills in the main instrument / discipline and the knowledge of theory, history of music and harmony will be assessed for all candidates, foreigners and non-foreigners.

Knowledge of the Italian language for foreign students

The assessment of the Italian language knowledge, level B2, is mandatory for all foreign students who apply to be admitted to courses and who do not have Italian citizenship.

The written and oral test will be preliminary to the admission exam.

 Candidates must come to the exam with an identity document and, if non-EU citizens, a passport with the specific entry visa for study and / or residence permit.
